I remember being so thrilled every time I got out of school at 3:10pm and it was pouring rain. My walk home from high school was about 1 mile, all downhill, and there was nothing better than autumn days walking home in the soft rain.
Today I downloaded this book: Rain, A Natural and Cultural History. I'm so excited to read it!
From the description: It is elemental, mysterious, precious, destructive. It is the subject of countless poems and paintings; the top of the weather report; the source of all the world's water. Yet this is the first audiobook to tell the story of rain.
How could you not be excited about that? And if you're not, just wait for the first rainy day to start it, and I'm sure that will help.
I'll keep you posted on how it's going. I'm excited for this debut book by Cynthia Barnett.
Got your wellies out?
